CopperHead Hotel

COPPERHEAD nestles into the side of CastleRock Mountain … sequestered into the giant rocks and oaks of the Texas Hill Country. The panoramic view of Lake LBJ and Lake Marble Falls is unparalleled for every one of the 40 individual “Casitas”. Privacy reigns supreme in the placement of each Casita. Arrival is an experience through time … down a covered “hillevator” to landscaped pathways, over stone and wooden bridges spanning the gurgle of small waterfalls cascading down from The Mountain of One Thousand Fountains and The Eagles Nest, the Casitas emerge as one with the terrain.

Private to the world yet open wide to the view, floor to ceiling, wall to wall glass, opens to the private lounging deck and cozy chiminea. The Japanese seeping tub with rain shower floats over bamboo floors, the bathroom a “Zenned-out Spaces” cradle of surprise.

Asian Zen design philosophy flows perfectly with all the conveniences of modern living. Each private retreat details Marley Signature Series custom furnishings, a king-sized sleeping platform, luxury linens, convertible sofa/bed for guests or children, custom designed light fixtures, clean and modern, water conserving porcelain fixtures, bamboo and Chinese slate flooring. The roof floats across an abundance of light from surrounding clerestory windows. Silent, sliding, translucent Shoji screen panels with bamboo leaves, conceal or reveal the bathing experience.

Units are built off-site under strict quality control, transported and then set by crane onto the mountain, secured onto stucco over block foundations then utilities plugged in.  Designed and built by Architect Marley Porter of Living Architecture (one of America’s top 10 Green Architects) each Casita is constructed of “SIPS” (structural insulated panels-super energy efficient building technologies). The rooftops and walls are then exquisitely clad in copper with a natural patina, which deepens and becomes richer over time. Rainwater is collected and channeled in copper gutters to chains falling into black rock filled cisterns. The water is then pumped up to feed the Star Grazing Tower at Eagle’s Nest, a 40-foot tall stone water tower with a 360 degree viewing deck.
